National M. K. Čiurlionis Art Museum

2025 has been declared the Year of M. K. Čiurlionis in Lithuania.

M. K. Čiurlionis (1875-1911) is the most famous Lithuanian artist. We had the honor of contributing to the renovation of the exposition at the National M. K. Čiurlionis Art Museum in Kaunas.

Lighting artworks that are over a hundred years old requires great care.
We selected the appropriate lighting technology to ensure the true colors and textures of the paintings are visible while protecting them from heat and fading.

As the museum exhibits change and paintings are moved from one place to another, the best solution is to illuminate them using luminaires mounted on rails. To avoid reflections, the light is directed from a distance and at the widest possible angle.
The works of art are displayed under glass. Depending on the texture of each painting, suitable lighting solutions were chosen. The paintings are illuminated with luminaires of different types to best showcase their unique features.

Special attention is given to the most famous masterpieces, such as Žinia, Rex, and Karalių pasaka. These are illuminated with iGuzzini Palco Framer spotlights, which focus the light to highlight the artwork, creating an effect where the light source is invisible. The light beam is manually adjusted to perfectly match the shape of each painting.

The renewed M. K. Čiurlionis exposition in Kaunas awaits your visit!
