VIENYBĖS SQUARE IN KAUNAS

THE ARCHITECTURAL CONCEPT OF VIENYBĖS SQUARE WON THE HIGHEST AWARDS IN THE INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIONS "GERMAN DESIGN AWARD 2019" AND "IF DESIGN AWARD 2021".

SQUARE RECONSTRUCTION

    During the reconstruction of Square Vienybė, was laid a new light surface, were installed green oases and were formed unique plastic white concrete castings. The square was decorated with the most modern 40-nozzle dancing fountain in the country and artificial stream, benches for quiet rest, access to the square, and an underground parking lot.
     Reconstruction of the square was carried out by SBA company Urban Inventors. In cooperation with UAB Korgas, has been installed modern square lighting.

GREAT ATTENTION TO PLANT DIVERSITY

    During the renovation of the square, special attention was paid to the plants and trees of the green areas. In addition to several newly planted mature birches and pines, the square houses more than 5,000 trees various dwarf plants. As one of the essential goals of the concept of landscaping - the plants of the square had to be expressive at all times of the year, to attract the eye to the green areas all year round. Properly selected lighting helped to highlight the plant forms and their diversity during the dark hours of the day. For this purpose are used high-quality, well-known in the world iGuzzini Lander luminaires. To illuminate the paths and the area were used iGuzzini UFO luminaires.

INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION

    The architectural concept of Vienybė Square was created by the international architecture and design company 3Deluxe. The architectural concept of Vienybės Square won the highest evaluation in the international competition "GERMAN DESIGN AWARD 2019". The project was recognized in the winning category "Urban Space" by an international jury of famous architects and designers. This project also became the winner of the international competition "IF DESIGN AWARD 2021", in which the commission awarded an award not only for the architectural idea, form, functionality. Vienybės Square received the most points for its role as a citizen-filled city space recognized for mobilizing residents, business and thus fulfilling its social purpose. The project implemented in Lithuania received such recognition for the first time in history.
