Rasos cementery

THE HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL MONUMENT OF THE COUNTRY

One of the oldest and most unique cemeteries in Lithuania is Rasos Cemetery, established in 1796.

COMPLEX RESTORATION OF HISTORICAL CEMETERY STARTED IN 2018

A multi-stage project that consistently manages not only the environment, paths, lighting, but also monuments in an emergency condition, renovates chapels and other poor-quality structures in the area. The first stage included the upgrading of historic cemetery paths, stairs, stabilizing slopes, and video surveillance. In cooperation with JSC Korgas was renewed the lighting of paths and chapels.

CENTRAL CHAPEL

It is a neo-Gothic chapel in the Cemetery called the Central Cemetery Chapel. It was built in 1841-1850. In the chapel were designed the general and columbarium lighting.
Unique in its size and round shape, the central luminaire creates spectacular lighting in the main room, which is designed in three different scenes - it can shine up, down and back, creating an aesthetic sense of lightness and astonishment. At the same time, the central luminaire is illuminated from the sides, creating a unique combination of lighting, creating the ultimate impression and ambience in the room.
The window niche in the chapel is illuminated by an accent 3 W power fixture mounted in the attic, which creates a light line effect. The linear beam of light highlights the restored murals and accentuates the window niche on the exterior of the chapel.

COLUMBARIUM LIGHTING

In this chapel, during a state funeral ceremony on November 2019, were buried remains of Z. Sierakauskas, K. Kalinauskas and other participants of the uprising of 1863–1864. The illumination of the columbarium required local illumination of the memory boards. The light had to be warm and not very intense so as not to dazzle the reader. The proposed solution was to inject dotted LED fixtures into the edge of the tree, which will simulate a candle's flame, illuminate the name and niche. The edge was 3cm thick, so not all common solutions were suitable that required more space to fit. It had to look for an original and unusual solution to the small (Ø14 x 15mm) recessed asymmetric optics - Grupo MCI luminaires with a power of 1.5W with a warm 2700K spectrum.
For the lighting of the central cross were used recessed LED profile with frosted diffuser. Were used the LED strip up to 4.8W/m with dimmed transformer to reduce intensity and produce soft diffused light as needed.

MODERNITY AND LOW ELECTRICITY COSTS

The advantage of all newly installed luminaires, in the chapel and in the cemetery area, is not only the exceptional quality of the products, but also the very low power consumption.
The lighting of the cemetery area is designed in such a way that in the case of several supports, with 2 floodlights mounted on one support, consuming only 40 W of electricity, an area of 2,500 m² is evenly illuminated, which a cost is only EUR 35.00 per year.
