LIGHTING AT KENA AND VAIDOTAI RAILWAY STATIONS

RENEWAL OF LIGHTING OF LITHUANIAN LARGEST RAILWAY STATIONS

BEFORE THE RENEWAL

Before the renovation, the Kena and Vaidotai railway stations were illuminated with metal halide luminaires, which required frequent maintenance and periodic replacement. Some parts of the area were not sufficiently evenly lit, the light spectra differed. The level of electricity consumption of the old luminaires was 410 kW/h.
One of the tasks was to reduce electricity costs in order to make the railway infrastructure as polluting as possible. There were complex challenges in designing the new LED lighting system in the station area - the new luminaires had to be installed to adapt to the current situation, on the existing supports, without changing the height and location of the supports.

AFTER THE RENEWAL

At the end of the 2019 and at the beginning of the 2020 was renewed the lighting of these railway stations. Specialists of JSC Korgas designed and selected high-quality LED luminaires of the world-leading lighting technology manufacturer Cree.
An important aspect is security. LED luminaires have been installed on the extremely high support towers, which reach a height of up to 30 meters, which ensure more even lighting without contrasts, significantly better color reproduction, and lower glare. New luminaires do not require frequent maintenance and replacement. 271 units lighting fixtures were installed.
Total energy consumption fell by more than 57% to just 175 kW/h. This has significantly reduced the overall running costs of the infrastructure and the environmental impact.

QUALITY AND ECONOMY

By choosing high-quality and very versatile Edge High Output luminaires from the manufacturer Cree, the aesthetic design reduced reflection, which ensured a visually comfortable space. The new lighting system has significantly improved the safety of both train drivers and people working at stations and passengers.
With the help of the implementation of new LED lighting technologies, electricity consumption has been significantly reduced by illuminating a large area of stations. Manufacturer Cree's 10-year warranty and low maintenance costs associated with newly installed LED luminaires will ensure long-term cost savings.
